1:39 Tips on how to capture beautiful images of kids
Get Down Low
Get low as the kids or get low to the kids’ level. In that way, you can interact with them. One thing that I don’t do when I shoot kids is when I shoot from up looking down. If you go down really low, laying on your belly at the same as the kids, you get some really unique images.
Be Patient
It’s a lot of fun working with kids. I know a lot of people who get scared because kids love to do what they want. But you just got to be patient and wait for them to get excited. The main thing is patience when working with kids.

Have a great day!
Hi , Hope the shiraz went down well.I’m a merlot girl.
I have a Canon 600,with Tamron 18-270 lens. The lowest f stop is 3.5.
Am I going to need a different lens to get the portraits I want(perfect of course!)?
Getting frustrated,so your comment about being near to a breakthrough is very encouraging.
Thanks for the emails
Carol
Thanks Carol. Yes the shiraz always goes down well.
A big aperture of f/3.5 is fine for portrait photography. Try it out before investing in a new lens.
Glad my emails are encouraging – keep going and you will succeed.

Thanks for the great response to this special on How to Photography Kids – already found and fixed a few bugs in my lessons platform. Looking forward to the feedback. Thx. Brent
Does the video cover outdoor and natural light photography or is it biased towards studio? Do you cover photographing newborns in natural light?
Do you cover best settings for exposure when at the beach, park etc?
Thanks
Marina
Hi Marina. All of this course takes place outdoors, that is where kids are the happiest, and we can have the most fun. Mostly natural light, except for a little fill falsh for closeups in the shade, and it’s of kids aged between 4 and 15, not newborns – that’s a whole different ball game. Check it out. Brent
