Another great free photography tip:
What to look for when choosing a tripod.
In this video I explore the different parts that make up a tripod and also show you different types of tripods, as well as tripod heads I use when I photograph.
Here are some tripods I recommend from a great supplier.
I answer the following questions in this free photography video:
What are tripods used for?
What to look for in a tripod
How to choose the right tripod for your camera
What about the weight of the tripod?
What is a tripod head and what do they do?
What are quick-release plates?
Check out this video and please leave some feedback below.

Hi Brent. I also enjoyed your video with Varina Patel. Besides liking her briliant photo etc I also liked the look of her tripod (with different centre columns to make it possible to get down low).
Good video, very informative. What type/model is the head you use on your main tripod? It seems to be easier to use than other heads that have twist levers on them. Thanks Brent for the great videos.
This video was great. Thank you so much for posting it!
Thank You so much for your videos. I have really enjoyed them. Everything has been very informative.
Great info, thanks 🙂

Thanks again yet another fine video I now know more about tripods very well done thanks you Brent
Brent the tripod video was simplistic, and very informative. I appreciate the sharing of your knowledge. God bless you.
Hi Brent, My name is Patrick and I recently joined your website…I would like to thank you for your helpful hint and tips photograpy. Brent, I was just looking at this tripod clipping and notice the lens you have on your 5D Canon, can you let me know what type of lens you are using on this camera?
Regards,
Patrick
I use the Canon 17-40 f4 lens for most of my landscape photography, thats the one on that camera. Enjoy the rest of the tutorials. Brent
Thank you so much for putting these tips on free to us. You are much appreciated.

brent, very good infomation.thank you so much.
Thank you Brent, this great i havent bought my trip[od yet and it will help my choice and how to use it
I use a DSLR with at time big lenses for wildlife photography a tripod is a buit cumbersome to use on those occasion and I have a monopod. Would you think it ok to use a ballhead opn the monopod for ease of movement?
Na, I dont think the monopod can handle it. Just screw the monopod into the lens – not the camera, and you should be OK. Brent
Thank you. This really helps
This helps clarify some questions I had about the use of a monopod. Also, I'm glad that the tripod that I had purchased some 15 years ago has the quick-release attachment. Your tutorial is two-fold (for me): it is refreshing my memory of the things I learnt, and bringing me up-to-date on more recent developments in photography tools and techniques. Thank you!
Hi Brent,
I enjoyed both the Videos you shared. We are small group of photographers ranging from beginners to advanced professionals. We meet every Wednesday and I have shared these Videos with the group. Beginners enjoyed because they learnt from it and advanced photographers because it was refreshing and revision of their techniqe and knowledge.
Thanks and regards, Satvinder.
Glad you like them. Brent
Have you ever lost a quick-release plate? I had a tripod and lost the plate. I've not been able to find any replacement plates anywhere. Any recommendations where we can purchase these?
Hi Daniel, ebay or amazon are good places to look for replacement quick-release plates. Brent
I'm new to photography but old enough (don't ask) to think I knew this stuff – wrong! First two videos were quite helpful, keep up the good work.
Thanks Ken. Old dog learning new tricks hey?
The tips on selection of tripod are very useful.
